The first week of broadcasting has resulted in a huge response from not only residents in Newton Aycliffe but also from ex-Newtonians around the world.

Before the launch on Friday morning an email was received from ex-Newtonian Andy Little, who runs a radio station in Spain (Central FM). Not only did he offer his congratulations and wish the new venture good luck, but also offered his services. Aycliffe Radio is an online station, so Andy would be able to broadcast his show live from Spain – watch this space for more details!

Over the first few days we were contacted by previous residents of Newton Aycliffe who are now resident in Australia, America, Romania, United Arab Emirates, Spain, The Philippines and a nice message from Mel Carter sitting in front of his log fire in Newfoundland, Canada.

During the first week our presenters have been finding their feet and getting used to the studio equipment. There were a few gaffs and dead air sections, which we have hopefully sorted out.

Please remember the presenters are not all professional DJs, they are your friends and neighbours willing to give up their time to entertain and inform you about all things local.

If you are interested in joining us at Aycliffe Radio, please get in touch via our website www.ayclifferadio.co.uk, text 07512 253333, email info@ayclifferadio.co.uk, like our Facebook page or download the (soon to be upgraded) app from Apple Store or Google Play.

Newton News have kindly offered us space each week to promote our DJ schedule, so check out the running order on page 5 for your type of music.
