As Woodham’s Thailand Experience is getting closer, the students are working extra hard to raise funds. They have also arranged more fundraising opportunities including ‘curry and quiz’ nights, bag packs in Newton Aycliffe Tesco and ‘race nights’. Some of the volunteering students have done include car washing and gardening where they have successfully built up regular customers and have gained a great sense of achievement through their efforts.

Woodham’s Thailand Experience is a new opportunity for Woodham Academy students where 14 students were selected through a competitive application and interview process. The 14 students will be travelling to Thailand next summer and will be volunteering in an elephant sanctuary in the North of Thailand. The students will be living with, and caring for the orphaned elephants that have been rescued from the tourist trade. The students will also have the chance to experience the different culture and visit historical areas including the bridge over the River Kwai.

Woodham Academy students had a bag pack at Newton Aycliffe Tesco on Saturday 24th November.

They are also looking forward to running a school cake sale on Friday 19th October.

Woodham’s Thailand Experience has a ‘Just Giving’ page set up for any donations which will be split equally amongst the 14 students. They also have a facebook page where fundraising and updates will be posted. This includes all competitions and events.
