On Saturday 16th March, Woodham’s Thailand Experience took part in their final bag pack with Newton Aycliffe Tesco. Students are very grateful for all of the support Tesco have given and have had three bag packs in total. The most recent bag pack saw students raise a fantastic £836.35 which will be split equally between the 14 students going.

As well as the team efforts, a lot of the students have been dedicated to raising their own funds. There have been events organised by them that include a ‘quiz and curry’ night at Planet Leisure, car washes, garden maintenance and many students have taken up part time jobs.

Woodham’s Thailand Experience is an opportunity where 14 students were selected through a competitive application and interview process. The 14 students will be travelling to Thailand next summer and will be volunteering in an Elephant Nature Park in the North of Thailand. The students will be living with, and caring for the orphaned elephants that have been rescued from the tourist trade. The students will also have the chance to experience the different culture and visit historical areas including the Bridge over the River Kwai and the Kanchanaburi war museums.

Woodham Academy students have more fundraising opportunities in the upcoming weeks including selling refreshments at Woodham Academy’s Annual Dance Showcase which took place on Tuesday 2nd April.
