With digital literacy becoming so important to the future of our young people, ten students from Woodham Academy got the chance to speak directly to one of the world’s leading technology companies.

After recent successful projects using Skype at Woodham, representatives from the ‘Skype in the Classroom’ team invited a group of year 10 Woodham students to take part in a live video conversation with Skype employees.

The students were able to ask questions relating to what it was like to work for one of the leading global technology companies and what qualifications they would need in order to succeed.

The Skype team were so impressed with previous Skype projects in the classroom at Woodham that they sent a professional film crew up to Woodham to film the live video conversation in order to make a global promotional video.

Jon Tait, assistant head teacher, commented ‘This has been a wonderful opportunity for our students. With the fast changing digital world that we now live in, we are currently preparing our students for jobs that don’t even exist yet.

Gaining an insight from one of the world’s leading digital technology companies on what our students need to do to be successful in their future careers is invaluable’.
