Woodham Academy Sports Leaders helped to run a fantastic event in conjunction with Sedgefield School Sports Partnership at Sedgefield Community School on June 30th.
The Year 8 & 9 students demonstrated confident sports leadership skills to run Boccia, Basketball and Athletics to primary pupils from across the Sedgefield and Aycliffe area.  The Academy students had responsibility for organising the primary students and equipment safely, whilst using their knowledge to explain and demonstrate each specific event.
The sports leaders also confidently scored each event, before giving medals out to the winning students and teams. A fantastic day was had by all and the Woodham students commented on how they enjoyed having responsibility for their own events.
Woodham Leadership Academy is run in partnership with the Tony Blair Sports Foundation.  It gives students access to bespoke Tony Blair Sports Foundation workshops and member events aimed at promoting personal development and the recognition of students’ achievements during their time on the programme.  This programme not only provides sports qualifications but gives them the leadership, organisational and communication skills that will benefit them in all areas of their life.”
