You will have seen from recent posts that there was an incident that occurred at Woodham Academy on Friday 23rd January 2015 whereby two males had trespassed on the premises and threatened staff and pupils. One of the pupils – a 14 year old boy, had been assaulted. The two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident took place – a 23 year old local male and a 16 year old youth. We can now confirm that both appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court yesterday to answer to the charges. 23 year old Daniel BRANNIGAN from the Guthrum Place area of the town pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive words or behaviour – an offence contrary to the Public Order Act 1986. His co-accused – who we can’t name, pleaded guilty to the same crime and also further charges of assault on a pupil and against one of the arresting Police Officers. Both will be sentenced in the near future and were bailed in the meantime.
