Woodham Academy recently welcomed prospective students and their parents into school for their Open Evening. The school invited all Year 6 students from primary schools in Newton Aycliffe, Chilton and Shildon to the event. The evening consisted of a welcome talk by Head Teacher, Christine Forsyth, followed by a tour of the school. Students and parents had the opportunity to take part in a number of activities in the different departments including visiting Eerie English for their scary Shakespeare games and face painting. The food Technology department baked fresh scones, as well as offering visitors a bush tucker trial treat for dessert. The Humanities team decorated their department with a 6ft volcano and smoke machine, a selection of army uniforms for visitors to try on and a DIY cress atlas for students to make. Science welcomed visitors with creepy crawlies and explosions, whilst the PE department held football, gymnastics and trampolining for those keen on sport. A further Open Day was held on Friday 30th September.
