After a busy and successful night at the South West Durham District Athletics competition, Woodham Academy PE Department is celebrating after a number of its students qualified for the County Durham Athletics Championships. The students were competing against strong opposition from Barnard Castle School, St. Johns R.C. School and Sedgefield Community College.
Lisa Robinson (high jump), Lauren Towell (200m), Charlotte Lough (300m) and Caitlin Barber (javelin) have all qualified in their age range to represent the Durham County squad at the County Championships which is to be held at Monkton Stadium in early June. Should they be successful at this event, there is further opportunity to represent the county at the Inter-County Championships later in the month.
The PE Department would like to take this opportunity to wish those students good luck at this upcoming event.
