Buddies Befriending Service are offering residents of Newton Aycliffe and Middridge who are over 50 years old the chance to come along to a free afternoon of tennis, tea, sandwiches, and of course strawberries and cream, along with lots of fun and giggles!
The event is taking place at Woodham Community Centre on Thursday 30th June 2016, 12.30 until 4pm and is free to attend, however places must be booked in advance. Transport can also be provided door to door which is free of charge. On arrival there will be a short registration form to complete to register with Buddies Befriending Service.
Buddies Befriending Service is funded through the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership (GAMP AAP) and it aims to help reduce loneliness and isolation in the over 50s.
The volunteer Buddies can provide support to help people to access community activities, provide practical support such as help with shopping or simply sit and listen and chat over a cup of tea.
If you would like to book your place for Wimbledon, are interested in having a buddy or if you know someone who would benefit from the service, please contact the project team on 01325 329933 or email: buddies@pcp.uk.net.
