Wilkinsons store in Newton Aycliffe, was a hive of activity on Saturday 30th July with an in-store book sale, leg and head waxing session and raffle, generating £982 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Team members rallied round to get book donations from friends and family to sell in store at the cost of 50p each to raise money for the charity. Gary Cartwright, store manager and team members Alistair Irvine and Andy Bennett, willingly entertained crowds of customers when they participated in an extreme waxing session, while Gary, had his head shaved for a charity donation.
To raise further funds, staff dressed in an array of ‘Macmillan’ green themed outfits and hosted a raffle, with one lucky customer walking away with garden furniture worth £80.
Gary said: “The weekend has been a great success and I am grateful for all the donations we have received from our loyal customers. Raising so much money has made this a community event to remember.
“The funds will be going to a very good cause. I would like to thank all the team for being such great sports, along with everyone involved on the day for all their help and generosity.”
