The Chairman’s Medal is the highest honour Durham County Council can award, and is given to individuals or groups who have contributed significantly to communities in County Durham.
Working with local Area Action Partnerships, the Chairman of Durham County Council, Cllr Pauline Charlton is encouraging people to nominate ‘individuals for voluntary effort’ and ‘outstanding charitable organisations’. The award is open to all ages.
Cllr Charlton said: “There are so many unsung heroes in County Durham who do things for their community that can go unnoticed.
“We will be holding a presentation event which will be a celebration of the achievements and effort that people of our county put in every day – a little time to reflect on the excellent work that people do for each other.”
The awards will take place in April 2014, and the closing date for nominations is 14 February 2014.
