Dear Sir,

I feel I need to respond to the reader wrote the article in edition 23rd October 2020, headed ‘an accident waiting to happen’ on page 10.

Can I say, point 1, as a grandparent and homeowner in Whinlatter Place with children who play in this area, this is NOT Beirut and I take strong offence to it being called such.

The children here do not run wild and if the council took more pride in looking after the place, instead of trying to knock houses down, it would suit them better.

How dare this reader disrespect the residents of this estate and how dare he insinuate the parents of this area allow their children to run wild? Are they insinuating these children are not being looked after?

The Beck has been an eyesore since I moved here and bought my home many years ago, do not blame the children, the buck lies at the council’s door.

I wait patiently for an apology to all in Whinlatter Place.
