Yet again last weekend, the weather put paid to many of our games, so only a couple to report on.
The Under 12 Falcons made the long trip to face bottom of the league Redcar Athletic Reds on a freezing cold wet morning. The lads started well pressing early causing Redcar lots of problems at the back. It wasn’t long before the first goal arrived. A very good corner taken by Dylan Redpath resulted in Tom Jasper turning it in at the far post. A second was added by Kane Hopwood after a good run and excellent finish. Joseph Birchall added a third shortly after. Redcar scored a good breakaway goal as the Falcons were caught out too high up the pitch 3-1. Dylan Redpath completed the first half scoring to make it 1-4 at half time. Further second half goals were added by Kane, Joseph, Declan and Kieran to complete our scoring with Redcar getting another on a breakaway. Final score 2-8. MOTM was awarded to Kane Hopwood for a solid all round display.
The Under 9 Falcons were in a difficult game against a tough, well organised Darlington Spraire Lads. Going into this game, both were the only 2 teams in the division without a defeat. The conditions were terrible with long, boggy grass and freezing temperatures. So it was a case of dig deep and battle hard and that’s exactly what they did, creating plenty of chances with Dylan and Cole combining well going forward. HT 0-0. 2nd half saw The Falcons get the early goal they needed. Great run from Dylan on the left beating three players, passed the ball through to Cole Gaskarth to run on to and poke it passed the keeper 1-0!!! Two outstanding saves from Travis Dixon kept the clean sheet ensuring a much needed win. MOTM went to Dylan Stewart. The second game saw coats, hoodies, hats, you name it, the boys had it on!!! The boys were quickly 1-0 down but playing well going forward. Just before HT they were 2-0 down. Two changes at the break and things were opening up for them. Aidenlee Peacock grabbed two well-earned goals with his strength and pace and took them really well!! With things looking up it was thought the Falcons might just steal it but it wasn’t to be as they lost 4-2. MOTM Aidenlee Peacock. Well done boys great effort.
