Bewick Crescent Surgery are running two walk-in flu clinics on Sat 28th September and Sat 5th October from 9-12noon. They would like all patients in the following categories to attend these sessions if possible – no appointment necessary.
65 years and over, pregnant women, carers of patients and those over 6 months old who have chronic conditions. A new category has appeared this year which is children born between 2nd September 2009 and 1st Sep 2011. The practice has a new nasal spray vaccine for children.
All eligible patients are welcome, including Heighington patients. There will be further clinics running after these dates where appointments can be made. Anyone who has received a letter stating they need the shingles vaccine are also welcome to attend these walk in clinics. Pregnant ladies are very welcome as this group has a low take up rate and it is hoped these Saturday clinics will help. Albert Whiting in the photograph has a flu jab every year and says he never gets a cold! “I would recommend this to everyone” said Albert
Helen Hobson, Practice Manager said:
“The practice is nearing completion of extensive refurbishment works and hopes that the work will be completed by the end of October and would like to extend thanks to patients and residents  for enduring the upheaval caused.
There are now 13 GP consulting rooms compared to 9 and a downstairs meeting room for patient education clinics. The reception area once completed will offer improved access to all users and more privacy to patients. The practice has taken on two new GPs and one nurse practitioner to enable more appointments to be made”.
