The Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) are looking for volunteers to help with two projects aimed at improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life for local people.
Befrienders for Volunteer Health Buddy Scheme – to provide support for clients who will be isolated, lonely or vulnerable to regain their independence and confidence and who have recently been discharged from hospital.
The PCP Health Buddy Scheme is a new scheme aimed at people living in the Sedgefield and Wear Valley areas of County Durham. Volunteer Befrienders will need to be available at least 4 hours per week.
Bev Gent, Lifestyle and Volunteer Manager  says “We want to recruit people who are keen to develop a trusting relationship with clients as well as helping them with shopping, attending medical appointments and encouraging them to engage with social activities or groups and access services. Personal qualities required include good interpersonal skills, ability to use own initiative, reliable and aware of the differing physical needs of people. Full support and training will be provided by the PCP.”
Health Walk Leaders are required for weekly Health Walks on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 – 11.30am.  Ideally people will have knowledge of the local area and can provide a regular commitment. Full training and support will be provided by PCP.
If you are interested in either of these volunteering roles please come along to a recruitment morning on Thursday 5 July 10am – 12noon at the Pioneering Care Centre. Or contact Bev Gent, PCP Lifestyle and Volunteer Manager, tel: 01325 321234 email: bev.gent@pcp.uk.net
