If you lose your sight getting around becomes so much more difficult.
Assuming buses can be accessed; managing to stop the correct one is an additional mountain to climb.
Blind Life in Durham arrange a number of activities to keep people with sight loss active, it could be a social meeting or New Age Kurling or any of the other activities we organise. However, for the activities to benefit people, who may otherwise suffer loneliness and depression, they need to be able to reach the venues we use.  If you can help by transporting people this would greatly help them and us. You would also be welcome to join in any of the activities and be part of the larger ‘Blind Life in Durham family’.
We pay 40 pence per mile to anyone willing to provide this valuable service and provide training for guiding people with sight loss.  If you feel able to offer this help please contact us on 01388 763501 or email blindlifeindurham@gmail.com – If you would like more information please view our website www.blindlifeinduham.org.uk or give us a ring.
