On Friday 3rd of June, members from youth/children@St Clare’s and team came together with staff and residents from Bethany House Care Home to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. Building on links previously made from the Shine like a Diamond Mission just before Christmas. Children, adults and youth from Messy Church, Shine Choir and Parish Youth came along. Forming ‘Messy Vintage Fusion’, bringing generations together to celebrate this wonderful moment in history, the Queen’s Jubilee.
The session started with messy crafts, decorating treasure boxes, making prayer bunting and sharing memories to create a memory box. It was lovely to see the engagement and interaction between all involved. Michael, a staff member, said, “It was nice to see the residents actively engaging with the children.”
Helen, the Youth/Children’s lead, shared a Messy reflection and prayer before Shine Choir sang. Debbie, the care home’s Activities Co ordinator, said, “It was a wonderful and joyous occasion when the children from St Clare’s Church visited us at Bethany House. We thank all who organised this event and spent your precious time doing crafts, talking & listening to our residents and, of course, listening to the children’s beautiful singing voices. Their parents must be so proud, and we look forward to meeting you all again.”
The session ended with a lovely thank you from Harry, one of the residents, “She’s (Helen) got a wonderful choir going and is still as enthusiastic as ever, on behalf of everybody at Bethany House, thank you all very very much indeed, come back again soon.”
Everyone then enjoyed Jubilee cupcakes made by Susan Foster, the Care Home Manager.
An absolutely wonderful event of sharing memories and making new ones, filled with love and celebration.
A huge thank you to all at Bethany House for making us feel so welcome and your kind donation to Youth/Children’s@St Clare’s. Also a thank you to the parents, their children and the youth for coming along so Jubilee Messy Vintage Fusion could happen.
With much love, the Youth/Children’s Team
