The Darlington Fundraising Group for Marie Curie is holding a Variety Night on Monday 13th June, from 7pm, at the Darlington Club and Railway Institute, North Road. The line up includes the fantastic comedian Patrick Monahan, winner of ITV’s Show Me The Funny; Oli Patto, local singing star; Joe, a mind reader, and Circus Stars on Tour.
All of the proceeds will got to the Darlington Fundraising Group to contribute to funding the ‘round the clock’ Rapid Response Nurses, who work out of St Theresa’s Hospice, Darlington. This service ensures that people in the Darlington area, living with a terminal or life limiting illness, receive nursing care in their place of choice. The Darlington Community Rapid Response Team, developed by Marie Curie Cancer Care and St Teresa’s Hospice, provides palliative nurses who can respond to patients in the community to manage their care and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions. The service also provides discharge support for patients from hospital or hospice and ensures a speedy transfer to their preferred place of care, with the support they, and their families, need to remain there.
Knowing that it cost £20 an hour for a Marie Curie Nurse to offer vital care and support, buying tickets for this great night out can make a real difference to people living with a terminal illness. Tickets are £8 available from Catherine Hutchinson on 07941 738299 or through our Facebook page- Darlington Marie Curie Fundraising Group (or on the door: £9).
