On Friday 8th July a team of fifteen schoolchildren from Vane Road Primary attended Maiden Castle in Durham. Their mission was to compete in the Durham County School Games after they had been successful in their previous two heats (Newton Aycliffe and Durham). The children emerged victorious after being declared overall winners in the competition.
The basketball team, which consisted of Year 5/6 children, were awarded the accolade of “best basketball team in County Durham”. The eight children from Year 3/4 displayed great effort and team work in their events and proved themselves to be able competitors and a credit to their school. Well done to all involved, pupils and staff alike.
