Dear Sir,
The extreme vandalism to 16 trees at West Park has totally outraged my family.
The Environment Officer Steve Cooper did a fantastic job engaging the community, schoolchildren, volunteers, council staff and members of Friends of West Park of which I am a member.
We all worked together under the guidance of Steve Cooper to plant these lovely trees to add to the beauty of West Park Boating Lakes – all for what?
Either an individual or a group have snapped the trees over two nights in a mindless act of vandalism. Why and for what should they destroy trees?
Obviously they have no regard for anything and do not care about this community facility which is a fantastic place to visit and enjoy now and in the future.
I hope this act of vandalism will not affect future progress and development of our beautiful West Park.
If you know who was responsible please do the right thing now and report it to the Police and restore my faith in human nature.
Martin Ashcroft
