Sedgefield Water Polo club entertained Yorkshire’s leading clubs Sheffield and Rotherham and local team Durham City in a Under 14 tournament at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.
In closely fought games Sedgefield came out on top against Sheffield 9-2, Rotherham 10-6 and Durham 5-1. In the final Sedgefield were up against Rotherham and with Sedgefield’s tight defence they triumphed 6-2.
The player of the tournament for Sedgefield was Ben Stephenson 12 who scored important goals in the two matches against Rotherham. He was ably supported by Connor Keeble, Michael cousins and Kris Egginton all 13.
The other members of the young Sedgefield team were Haydn Craggs 11, Micheal Hampshire 12, Holly Turnbull 12, Niall Coulthard 10, Daniel Millington 10, Luke Curley 13, Hugh Masterson 12, Richard Murray 13, Poppy Stephenson 10 and Milo Curley 11
