George Bisgrove a resident of Bethany House at Woodham celebrated his 100th Birthday on 18th February and received a visit from the Mayor Barbara Clare and his only relatives Great Niece Victoria and Great Great Niece Samantha.
He was born in Somerset and had a career in the Royal Navy serving in ships and submarines all over the world. He met his wife Vera who was a Chief Petty Officer and after they left the Navy the couple settled in Shildon where they lived for many years.
After the death of his wife, George moved into Hackworth Care Home and on its closure he was fortunate to get a place in Bethany House.
