Students from Greenfield Community College enjoyed a day of sport at Spennymoor Leisure Centre last week. Pupils from Ferryhill, Whitworth Park, Greenfield and The Oaks competed throughout the day. Over the course of the event two Greenfield students were selected to represent Sedgefield in the County Finals later this year. Well done to Conor Radford and Stephen Robson, and good luck in the County finals.
The day included Taekwondo with Russell Shaw (Spennymoor Taekwondo Club), New Age Kurling with Allan Gregson (Newton Aycliffe New Age Kurling Club & World Champion), Wheelchair Basketball with Lee Fawcett (Darlington Wheelchair Basketball club & Paralympic athlete), and Boccia organised by Sedgefield’s Young apprenticies. An enjoyable day was had by all.
After half term Wheelchair Basketball will be available at Greenfield Community College as an additional club for interested students alongside the range of great extra curricular sports activity for students and the community. Greenfield students have over 10 different free clubs & academies they can attend every week, details of the activities can be found on the Greenfield Moodle page.
