Andy Bailey, an Instructor at Newton Aycliffe Karate Club will be travelling to Japan and Okinawa in October to train under some of the world’s greatest Sensei / Teachers. Andy has trained in karate for over 30 years and recently graded to 4th Dan Black Belt.
The 11 day trip will involve 5 days training under Ohta Sensei at Keio University and also Kawasaki Sensei at Kamakura. After this he will be travelling to Naha in Okinawa where he will have a 3 day, private seminar with Senaha Sensei 9th Dan Goju Ryu at his private dojo.
The trip has been organised by Sensei Scott Langley, 6th Dan and Technical Director for the UK and Ireland with the World Traditional Karate Organisation. Scott spent five years living in Japan and is one of only a handfull of European karateka to complete the gruelling Instructors Course. He is also best selling author of Karate Stupid, which documents his experiences during his time in Japan.
14 Karateka will undertake this journey from 4 different countries, England, Ireland, Holland and Norway.
