Year 9 students from Woodham Academy ran an extremely successful Tri-Golf Festival at the Oakleaf Complex recently, in collaboration with Sedgefield School Sports Partnership. Year 5 and 6 primary school students from across the area came to the event and much fun and enjoyment was had by all.
Woodham Academy students gained valuable sports leadership skills and in pairs they ran their own activity station with maturity and humour. The primary students rotated around each activity on a carousel basis, gaining points for their school team based on their individual performances. After the points were carefully calculated, medals and certificates were given out at the end of the event to recognise achievement and sporting contribution.
Woodham Leadership Academy is run in partnership with the Tony Blair Sports Foundation.  It gives students access to bespoke workshops and member events aimed at promoting personal development and the recognition of students’ achievements during their time on the programme.
This programme not only provides sports qualifications but gives them the leadership, organisational and communication skills that will benefit them in all areas of their life.”
