It has been revealed that three youngsters aged 6 to 11 were responsible for vandalising sixteen trees at West Park and one of the culprits might get an asbo.
The Town Council will want restorative justice and Police Commissioner Ron Hogg is in favour of parents paying for damage caused by their children.
We encourage residents to be on the lookout for vandals and to report wanton destruction of any kind. Those who helped the Police identify the children who damaged trees are to be commended.
As ratepayers we ultimately carry the cost of replacing damaged items and in reporting vandalism and having those responsible punished acts, as a deterrent, and saves money.
