Newton Aycliffe Junior Football Club (NAJFC) held their 17th Annual presentation day to reward all of the players associated with the club. This was held at our home ground of Sunnydale Leisure Centre in Shildon.
Over 120 players ranging from 4yrs to 20 years took to the stage to receive their individual participation trophy as a token of appreciation for their contribution to the sport of football. The younger teams were thrilled that “Rory the Lion” Middlesbrough FC’s mascot presented their trophies.  Players attended a match day at Middlesbrough FC’s stadium earlier in the year , part funded by the club.
The older players were awarded trophies from Newton Aycliffe Football clubs new captain Dan Mitten and player Paul Broome.
The day was marvellous, the weather held out and guests were entertained by individual team DVDs on the large screens which gave highlights of the season from both on and off the field! The children were able to use both the 4G pitch and bouncy castle in between their sessions to keep them entertained.
During the presentation the club’s chariman Nige Slatcher handed the Charirman’s award to Jack Petroczy (16) who has been with the club over 10 years and despite his team (u16) folding mid-season has stayed committed to the club helping to coach our younger development team and is looking at joining the new u18 team this season. The club secretary Michelle Acuna Ocana nominated Jack Slatcher for the prestigious Durham FA Volunteer of the year Award due to his commitment to the club for over 15 years. Jack has played in every age group for the club currently within the u21’s.  Jack is a qualified referee who undertakes referring other games within the club as well as coaching and managing the development squad and upcoming under 7’s.  After the nomination was submitted an independent judging panel decided that Jack Slatcher received notification that he has been selecting by an independent judging panel to receive the runner up award which is a fantastic achievement.  The following players were invited onto the stage to receive their ten year service to the club award; Nathan Acuna Ocana, Jack Petroczy & Patrick Howe.  Some of these players have been with the club from the tender age of 4 and it has been a pleasure seeing them grow into young men.
