Dear Sir, The main entrance to our town centre is nearly complete and it’s nice to have the clock back and working although some will disagree – either regarding the chimes, or the mismatched brickwork, or even the decal! Heyho, can’t please everyone. When viewed from Stephenson Way, to the right we have the eyesore of the bins at the rear of the Thames Centre shops. Are these to be left or are there plans to hide them from view – perhaps behind a wall/fence or shrubbery? Looking to the left (although I am aware this is an area where work presently continues), one is immediately drawn to the very necessary, but extremely ugly, metalwork of the Leisure Centre fire escape! Are there any plans to disguise this, perhaps with the use of banners advertising the Centre? On the subjects of signage I note it reads “Newton Aycliffe Library and Leisure Centre”. Since the Leisure Centre occupied the site long before having to share it with the Library, surely the wording is the wrong way round? (Name & address supplied)
