Sally Lakey, chairperson of 1407 (Newton Aycliffe) squadron’s civilian committee has been awarded a Long Service Certificate of Appreciation from Head Quarters Air Cadets.

She joined the squadron in 2004 to assist with fund raising and cadet welfare and in October 2007 was elected as Chair of the committee.

She is now one of the longest serving committee members in Durham/Northumberland Wing. Mrs Lakey gives a huge amount of her time to support the squadron’s activities including grant applications and fund raising, running the tuck shop and every year she cooks Christmas dinner for over 30 cadets for their Annual Dinner.

The squadron’s commanding officer, Flt Lt Karin Scott RAFAC, all the staff and cadets would like to take the opportunity to thank her for everything she does for 1407.
