Live music, Champagne and plenty of oysters are all on offer at an elegant fundraiser later this month – and there’s still time to get tickets for the last remaining tables.

The 16th annual Oyster Festival returns to Hardwick Hall Hotel, at Sedgefield, County Durham, on 27 September.

And headlining this year is the voice of M People, Heather Small, known for hits including Search for the Hero, Moving On Up and One Night in Heaven.

The singer has enjoyed more than 25 years in the industry, going on to forge a successful solo career after leaving the popular group and releasing her debut solo album, Proud, in 2000.

Also taking to the stage at the event, which takes place from 12pm to 6pm, is Durham comedian Josh Daniels, who is known for his quick wit and has performed at various comedy clubs around the UK.

Irish bands, Emerald Thieves and JJ Galway Band complete the line-up, with Steve Walls returning as compere.

The Oyster Festival raises money for the Angel Trust, offering support to those in need in Darlington and County Durham, and is supported by main sponsor Great Annual Savings and this year’s car sponsor, Mill Volvo.

John Adamson, who owns Hardwick Hall Hotel, is confident that this year’s line-up will be a big hit.

“The Oyster Festival is always a lot of fun and we have some fantastic acts taking to the stage, who are sure to get everyone on their feet and having a great time.

“We are delighted to be raising money for the Angel Trust this year and we hope that our support will allow them to continue the amazing work they do in the local community.

“The event has been in high demand this year and we only have a limited number of tables left, so I would recommend anyone hoping to attend to book sooner rather than later.”

Guests will enjoy a three course Fruits de Mer menu, including dressed crab, Dublin Bay prawns, Scottish poached salmon and mussels, with a champagne reception on arrival, oyster stalls and a bottle of wine per person, along with complimentary Guinness, John Smiths and Heineken throughout the event.

Tickets cost £150 plus VAT and can be booked by calling 01740 620253 or by emailing events@hardwickhallhotel.co.uk.
