I have been rescuing hedgehogs for a number of years now and what we, as rehabbers, are experiencing are events far from normal. For the first time I am well over my capacity but what makes my situation different is the amount of babies in Rescue. Tuesday I admitted three very small babies, all under 250g, the one I worry about the most is a little girl with breathing difficulties, treatment has started, she is from some lovely ladies at Woodham Lodge. Also another little girl with a poorly back leg, sorry guys, but I forgot who brought her in and, finally, a little girl from Brenda and Roy, she is called Buttons. They are all very beautiful but have their individual challenges to get to good health, but whilst I have them I will be very hands on making sure they get healthy and stay healthy.
Can I remind readers to please check before strimming or using any power tools, poor Buttons has had some of her spines sheared, she is only a baby and doesn’t deserve this at all, none of them do, I wouldn’t care, it only takes a minute to check.
Some people to thank, Audrey for some beautiful bracelets for a raffle prize, 18ct rolled gold, perfect for arthritis sufferers, Roy and Brenda for their kind donation; the lovely owner of the Olive Garden for his £15 voucher as a raffle prize; McDonald’s for another voucher; lots of other lovely prizes, in fact, too many to list here but raffle tickets are on sale now £1 a strip.
COME AND SEE ME AND MY HELPERS ON SATURDAY AT ROF59!
OUR FIRST PRIDE FEST!
Lots of information leaflets and some beautiful items for sale, tombola also, all your hoggie questions will be answered too. Please remember all monies raised are for our prickly babies, food, medicine and lovely cages and bedding too.
Finally thanks to Valerie, June, Denise and Peter and Terri. I would be lost without you all.
Tip of the Week: Please ring The British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801 if you see a Hedgehog out during the day and need advice. I can’t admit any more here yet, for the moment, but I am here for any advice, so email me at pricklyhaven@yahoo.com or a local vet.
