We have lots of news and a lot of people to thank this week but as far as our Hedgehog Hospital is concerned quiet it’s not. Unfortunately we are seeing some rehabbers becoming ill with various problems so I will start by sending them get well soon wishes.

We have admitted probably the smallest orphan so far, thanking Pat her sister Lesley and Denise not only for bringing in this very tiny hedgehog but also for their generous donation to help keep her clean, well fed and healthy, she, along with all the other babies, are doing well.

These tinies are found out, cold, alone and also an easy target for predators, being so small, they are home here with us safe and warm. We have named her Harmony, also in the last couple of hours we have our sixth hoglet who is able to keep Harmony company, she weighs a mere 3 ounces, thanking Karen, who is here from Barnsley visiting, for getting my attention and also donating to her care.

When hoglets come in they need feeding and toileting every four hours, they won’t have teeth as yet and their eyes sometimes aren’t open, they also can’t hear very much.

We would also like to thank Carrie, Valerie, June and Bev for sending some beautiful items for our car boot sales and fairs, fundraising is very much a part of what we do with the support of our family and friends.

Finally a special mention for a special lady that I haven’t met but very much a hedgehog lover nonetheless. She saved a female and asked us to name it after her, Sue, unfortunately her hedgehog couldn’t be saved, Sue also passed away regrettably. I was invited to her property by Sandra, Margaret and Ailsa for some beautiful items for our car boot sale, all profits go to our hedgehogs care and comfort.

We will try to update our Facebook page with the progress of all our rescues babies, we are now full as a rescue centre, so if anyone needs any help with a sick or injured hedgehog BHPS are still contactable on 01584 890801, Hedgehog Street or a vet.

Tip of the Week: Parliament is debating to Protect the UK’s dwindling population before it’s too late on Monday, we hope our local MP will be there to help these beautiful mammals.
