It’s the time of year when any hedgehogs that are of decent size and age should be hibernating now but we have received information from other rehabbers that there are little ones still being seen out and it’s too cold so they have been retrieved and sent to the closest rescue centre till spring, despite their size if out in the day they need attention. Even if you have to stick them under your coat get them help quickly please. Rescue centres are fully equipped to handle emergencies and work very closely with our vet.

Prickly Haven also has a long list of people to thank, firstly Paul for taking the time and trouble to publish these articles which helps us help these beautiful mammals and get the message across to our readers about the many challenges they face in the wild. Tara and I have also met many people who have donated cash or items which benefit the rescue immensely, thank you must go to Roz for her monetary donation via Tara. Yet again June and Will for making beautiful treats with Rabbits, Chicks, Sheep and Hedgehog Pom Poms, selling them with all proceeds going to our Rescue Centre; Sonia for her regular donation of lovely food, a lady called Bethany for embroidering hedgehogs and finally Cynthia, who reads this article, took the time and trouble to get in touch and has not only provided us with lovely items but she has changed the way we house our hoggies, she has given us Vet Beds, hoggies love it, very calm, warm and gaining weight too. Finally a big thank you to Marian and Jane from Tesco for food and papers.

Tip of the week: Please make sure if you see a hedgehog, help is always available, our Facebook page Prickly Haven Hotel or email pricklyhaven@yahoo.com
