Dear Sir,
I agree with the article in last week’s Newton News  questioning why schools are used as polling stations.
However I must correct the author as Vane Road Primary School is in fact open on Thursday 7th May despite also being used as a Polling Station.
The Year 5 classrooms that are being utilised will be vacant as those pupils are out on a trip and parents have been assured that the area will be securely cordoned off from the rest of the school.
Our fantastic school is led by a wonderful management team who have arranged these measures resulting in a happy compromise where the local community may vote and parents and carers are not inconvenienced with a school closure.
Other schools should take a leaf out of our book!
