Play Cafe would like to say a big Thank You to our seven County Councillors who have each contributed to funding which will ensure this Holiday Hunger project can continue. “We are delighted that our bid for funds has been successful,” said Alison Firby, Treasurer. “The £11,000 will enable us to continue taking this support for families to different venues across the town.” The Play Café is helping address the difficulties families experience during the long school holidays, when there are no Breakfast Clubs or Free School Meals. The pop up cafes will be held in local venues, offering the families a meal, time to play and talk and some groceries. All family members will benefit. It is particularly difficult for some families during the six week summer break. Families struggle from week to week on low incomes and a change to Universal Credit can cause significant financial problems. The Play Café can help.
