Christmas has come early for the Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club! The charity has been invited to receive a £500 donation from its local Tesco Extra on Greenwell Road.

Store manager Martin Butcher will present Roger Curtis, President of the Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club, with the cheque at the store this week.

For the last six years the store staff have helped to put hampers together for the Rotary Club to give to those less fortunate at Christmas time.

This year the store manager wanted to go one step further and offer a donation to ensure the hampers are better than ever. Martin said: “We are pleased to be able to continue our support of Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club and delighted to be able to offer a little extra help this year.”

Roger said: “To receive £500 also from Tesco is extremely generous. We have enjoyed a great relationship with Martin Butcher and his staff over many years and we are very grateful for the assistance we receive.”

The store has a bakery, fresh food, chilled and frozen products, household items, daily essentials, clothing, electrical, pharmacy, newspapers, and magazines. The store also provides Click and Collect clothing, Click and Collect Direct, Wi-Fi and Travel Money.

The store is open from 12.01am Monday for 24 hours a day until Saturday at midnight and is open from 10am to 4pm on Sundays. For added convenience the store also has a 24 hour petrol filling station.
