clean up volunteers wanted

Active Aycliffe a project led by the PCP are delighted to have received the keys to a new community shop in the town centre, which will provide a space for community groups to meet, and for local charities and services to hold drop-in sessions and workshops. This will replace the old community shop next to Boyes, and will be free to use for anyone providing a community service for the benefit of local residents.

Active Aycliffe are very grateful for the generosity shown by The Aycliffe Shopping Centre in offering the use of the shop, and Centre Manager Bryan Haldane and his team have kindly given their time to help make it a safe and accessible community space.

If you would like to support the development of your new community shop, we are looking for volunteers to help clean and decorate from Monday 28th January. We are also looking for a few donated items to help create a family-friendly space inside, including a sofa and/or comfy chairs, games, toys and books.

The Credit Union will be moving here from the old community shop, and will be holding weekly drop-in sessions between 11-12pm on Tuesdays. These will start on Tuesday 22nd January. The CAB will also be holding drop-in days on Wednesday 23rd January and Wednesday 20th February between 10am – 3pm.

Also watch out for our Healthy Hearts for Families event during half-term week on Saturday 16th and Monday 18th February. Activities will take place in the community shop and Leisure Centre, and will include smoothies and healthy eating demos, Health MOT checks, arts and crafts workshops, family tennis and aqua zumba.
