On Tuesday 7th December, the year 5 and 6 children at Stephenson Way Academy and Nursery School (SWANS) spent the day working with officers from Durham Constabulary in a variety of workshops. They covered a range of topics including internet safety, crimes and consequences, bullying and antisocial behaviour. The workshops were very informative and got across some very important messages in an interactive, child friendly way. After the workshops, all of the children, staff and police officers came together for an assembly where the children received certificates in recognition of their hard work and contributions to the sessions and two very special guests made an appearance . . . Jet and Ben! The children (and staff) were very excited to meet the police dogs and they got to stroke them and have their photo taken with them. It was an excellent day for the children at Stephenson Way Academy and Nursery School; the children said that they enjoyed everything about it and they learned a lot about crime and the consequences, and how to keep themselves safe. We look forward to working with Durham Constabulary again on different projects.
Thank you from Year 5/6 children and staff at Stephenson Way Academy.
