Students have been creative at this year’s Summer School, hosted by Greenfield Arts. The young people moving from Year 6 into Year 7 at Greenfield had a positive experience learning new skills, meeting new friends and becoming familiar with their new school surroundings and Greenfield staff.

As the new term begins Year 7 students can reflect upon their recent summer experience at Greenfield Community College as they continue their academic journey. A major part of the ‘summer’ school included working alongside filmmaker Laura Degnan to create their own film about being a ‘new starter’. They shared their film with other Year 7 starters this week to help everyone feel confident and secure about starting secondary school. They shared positive and practical ideas in their film and ways to develop your skills and attributes when starting school. Students were involved in all aspects of the filming process, both in front and behind the camera and the result shows their hard work and creativity.

Greenfield Community College is a Specialist Arts and Science school and is committed to providing opportunities, such as summer school, to support students to reach their full potential. Students returning to school are looking forward to an extended curriculum and KS4 bespoke revision sessions in the lead up to their exams. Parents, teachers and students will be meeting in the first half of term to share the best ways to work together to achieve success.

From summer school to Year 11, students are developing their ability to be self-led learners. Greenfield Community College promotes an inclusive curriculum and a strong student voice, encouraging students to work together to realise an outstanding learning experience.
