Parents and Carers flocked to Sugar Hill Primary School to see the long awaited Sugar Hill’s Got Talent Competition, organised to celebrate the contribution made by young carers in the school and across the community. Children from across the year groups auditioned for a coveted place in the final. Judged by a panel of children from the school, the final 7 places were filled by singers, footballers, gymnasts, a free-dancer, a magician and a cheerleader. Once the finalists had entertained the audience with their outstanding performances, a prestigious panel of judges left the hall to make the difficult decision to find a winner. The judges returned after much deliberation and gave first place to ballroom dancers Lana Bennett and Sophie Flint, second place to magician Anna Wren and third place to singer Emily Langsley-Melvin. The very successful afternoon was organised by the school’s Learning Mentor, Mrs Atkinson-Jones, who said the afternoon was only a success because of how fantastic the children had been. Mrs Atkinson-Jones and all the staff at Sugar Hill School would like to thank the main sponsors of the day, Atkinsons Staircases of Newton Aycliffe, Clarence Lodge Hartlepool, ARC Darlington and LJJ Contractors Stockton, together with the many other sponsors who made the day worthwhile.
All proceeds from the day were donated to the ‘Child Carers and Families in Crisis’ charity.
