Sugar Hill staff and pupils have been busy completing lots of different activities in classes throughout National Anti-Bullying week.

On Wednesday 18th November, children and staff came to school wearing odd socks. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun, where children and staff are able to express themselves and celebrate their individuality. It has become an annual event at Sugar Hill with a very clear message “Be proud of who you are and be accepting of one another.”

The children are taught throughout the school year that it takes a collective responsibility, not just in school, but in the wider community, to stop bullying in all its forms. Devoting a week in the school calendar to reinforce these very important messages, to be kind to others in what we say and what we do, raises the profile that bullying will not be tolerated and that everyone knows what to do if they feel they are being bullied by anyone else.

At Sugar Hill, staff, children, their families and the wider community are working together to earn accreditation with the ‘Emotional Wellbeing Award’. Lessons taught throughout Anti-Bullying week are central to ensuring everyone feels valued and safe and the children have designed posters to display around school spreading the message that at Sugar Hill bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.

Well done Sugar Hill pupils!

The message is simple, in a world where you can be anything, be kind.
