Students from both sites of Greenfield Community College had the opportunity to tour the new Hitachi site recently. Twenty students put their names forward as being interested in construction and were chosen to go on the visit, which was organised as part of the Shepherd Construction Open Doors project.
The group had the opportunity to “access all areas” on their tour which started viewing samples in the cabin to compare to what they saw on site, and included the office block and newly installed turntable.
This was a great opportunity for Greenfield students to see how the construction industry works, they asked questions throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Mark Kilcran from Shepherd, who met the students on the day said: “We thoroughly enjoyed having the pupils on site and we hope that some were inspired to explore career opportunities in construction and engineering.”
