Keep your eyes peeled! The speed awareness sculptures created by Greenfield Community Arts College students, from both the Aycliffe site and Sunnydale Campus, in the Summer holidays, funded by the Great Aycliffe Middridge Partnership and sponsored by the Newton News, were on display in Middridge this week to help promote speed awareness through the village.
Other sites in the area will also be used to highlight the problem of speeding motorists in built up areas.
Artist Vicky Holborough worked with the Transition Summer School participants from Greenfield Community College to use their creative skills to create ‘life like’ figures that can be placed outside to alert motorists and encourage speed awareness and improved road safety in our area.
After the success of this project Greenfield are now working on more ways to collaborate and support the local police to creatively explore community issues – look out for more activity in October Half Term!
