Students from Greenfield Community College have raised a fabulous £1500 for Sport Relief. The theme this year was a ‘Race to Russia’, chosen to mark this year’s venue for the FIFA World Cup. To reach their goal students and staff aimed to achieve an impressive 3,485 miles, the total distance from Greenfield to Russia.

Students gave up their time at lunchtime to take part in the sponsored event and run as many miles as possible. They showed resilience even though the weather was not on their side and stepped up to the challenge which was fantastic.

Students off-campus were also a big part of the day, a group of Year 7 students on the Howtown Residential clocked-up 1,300 miles during the week from a variety of activities including gorge walking and a gruelling expedition. Competitors in the Level 3 County Games also played a key part, keeping track of their mileage in athletics and netball to add to final figures whilst representing the school in their sport.

Students surpassed the total by then end of the school day with a little help from the staff who also tracked their steps for the worthy cause. It was an excellent day and a chance for Greenfield to come together to achieve great results. Well done to everyone involved!
