Today Bishop Auckland College ran a Veteran’s Lunch. The college affiliated to D (Rifles) Coy hosted Veterans from across the region. The Uniform and Public Services students whom have worked with D(Rifles)Coy and many of whom hope for a career in the Armed Services, joined in with College staff to serve an impressive spread of food, produced by the students in the Catering and Hospitality department. Many veteran’s had interesting stories to tell and shared them with the young people of the college. Even photography was covered by the students with Chloe Edwards taking photos to use in a press release.
Malcolm Flinn was in the Adjutant General’s Corps and worked in Army Legal Services attended with his son, Mathew, also a veteran, whom had served in the Royal Navy as a Logistician. They both now run a business producing E – Cigs in the local area and Malcolm said
“It’s great to see local community and the local college supporting the British Legion”
Katy Dixon a manager at the college said
“It’s fantastic to have so many Veteran’s and Students together sharing stories and interacting. It’s really important our students experience as much of society as possible, and with support by the FIFTH FUSILIERS, Royal British Legion and Sporting Force registered charity – 1169441 has made for a great day”
Last year the college raised over 100 pounds for the Royal British Legion
