The residents of Gilpin Road cul-de-sac put on a surprise street party for the now oldest and longest resident in the cul-de-sac, Roy Greenwood, who turns 80 on 16th July.

Roy has lived in the street since 1973 with his wife, Dorothy, and now grown up children, and is a friend and good neighbour to all.

The highlight of the occasion was Freda Tinkler, who made a special appearance for the party. She had lived in the street since 1952, until recently, when she moved into a care home. It was a great day helped by the glorious sunshine.

Special thanks to the Pearts for organising and planning the event.
