If you’re a parent, grandparent or someone who cares for children, this course will be of interest to you. The Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) is running a 5 week ‘Story Sack’ course at the Community Shop, next to the Post Office in Newton Aycliffe Town Centre.
Story sacks can capture a child’s imagination and support their learning and development. The 5 week course starts Thursday 25 April 10am – 12noon and costs £22 or free if you receive JSA or other benefits.
The course will give parents, carers and anyone who’s interested the skills they need to make and use story sacks. After the 5 weeks the group may want to carry on without tutor support, it could be the first step towards a story sack library!
Learners will be able to use and adapt story sacks to support a child’s learning of numeracy, problem solving, confidence building and of values and morals.
