Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is inviting visitors to enjoy a grand exhibition of Victorian locomotive contraptions at the Steampunk Spectacular event on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September, 2016. Visitors will be able to get on board cabs of selected steam locomotives, take a steam train ride behind Furness Railway No. 20, and browse the excellent selection of steampunk trade stands! Plus don’t miss performances by Same Difference of “A Few Feet Up”. This features an eccentric pair who have been travelling from town to town, looking for interesting things to document through their magical periscope. Hoping to get to 1001 viewers, Iris and Blinks need your help to make sure they document our Steampunk event in all its glory. Come and learn how to work the magical periscope and have a go for yourself! “A Few Feet Up” presents the theory that a slight physical change of perspective can encourage a conceptual one. The audience will see that just above our heads is an entirely (if subtly) different and unexplored ream which is always present, but usually just out of reach … And look out for our friends from the Time Travelling Tea Tent – where Dr Davis & Lady Barnes will be looking forward to welcoming visitors! Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is open from 10am to 5pm daily. Parking and admission are free of charge. Please note that there is a charge for steam train rides.
