Dear Sir,
I write with both annoyance and surprise at what is happening to the grassed areas not now being cut by Sedgefield Borough Council. I understand they transferred communal land to Livin who is responsible for grass cutting. Was it not part of every householder’s Council Tax that a portion to cover the grass cutting was taken from their Council Tax? And if so, and they have now passed it on as a cost cutting exercise, then where is the rebate to each Council Taxpayer as they no longer fulfil this obligation?
The place is becoming more like a jungle each day, and clearly Livin have neither the means or the facilities to
We have a bridge in the West Park which has not been repaired as no-one can or is willing to take the financial responsibility to pay for it. If the Council are so cash strapped and are trying to cut down on costs why do they then embark on building flower plots at various sites around the Town complete with wooden surrounds?
They cannot have been cheap to set up! I for one would rcut well than a colourful jungle that we will shortly be fighting through the undergrowth – simply to go for a walk. The same goes for the paths where grass is cut in places and they leave mounds of cuttings to be trailed into people’s houses. There is a noticeable decline in the way the Town is looked after.
