St John’s School and Sixth Form College, A Catholic Academy, proudly offers an extensive range of subjects to study at Post 16. From the Sciences to the Arts and everything in between, there are courses to suit everyone’s needs and abilities. Yet as “A Learning Community Guided by Gospel Values” we strive to develop the whole person, providing a curriculum that is broad, balanced and stimulating, as well as enrichment and enhancement opportunities that are truly life-changing.

At St John’s, Sixth Form students are given a fantastic opportunity to take part in “Project Peru”, a fundraising expedition to the remote town of Iquitos in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest.  Students spend 2 weeks helping those less fortunate than themselves by building food kitchens and classrooms, and by working in local schools within an area where 46% of the population live in extreme poverty.  This experience of a lifetime deepens our students’ social understanding and has a profound effect on their lives, inspiring them to do more for the world around them.

Now in its fifth year “Project Peru” is never short of willing volunteers and their enthusiasm and energy for raising money for this cause has included cake baking, supermarket bag-packing, cycling coast to coast and taking part in the annual “Strictly St John’s” dance competition.

With access to an exciting and varied curriculum coupled with opportunities like “Project Peru” students leave St John’s well equipped to embrace the challenges of the future.
